Xamk Pulse - A mobile-optimised platform that modernises educational offerings and enables international growth
The extensive design phase of the Xamk Pulse platform helped the University of Applied Sciences of South-Eastern Finland to expand its educational offerings and create a mobile-friendly, modern solution for selling micro-courses. The design process, based on an agile development model, ensured a flexible and efficient basis for future development and deployment of the platform.
Starting point
The aim of the project was to create a modern and mobile-friendly platform design for Xamk, which combines the Pulse and EduFIcation online stores into a single functional entity. The platform had to be flexible and open source, so that Xamk could manage and develop it according to its own needs.
Measures
Metatavu implemented the project using an agile development model based on two-week sprints. This allowed for a flexible and iterative development process, where the client’s needs and objectives were constantly taken into account.
Result
The end result was a mobile-optimised, accessible and easy-to-use training platform that supports Xamk’s strategic goals. Metatavu’s design phase laid the foundation for the Xamk Pulse platform, which is ready to meet current and future educational needs, enhancing the learning experience and enabling international expansion.

When logging in to the Xamk Pulse platform, students create a personal profile that provides a clear overview of all current courses. In the profile, students can easily see where they are in their courses and can track their progress in real time. In addition, the platform automatically recommends free and open courses based on the student’s defined interests, making it easy to find new learning opportunities.
Easy to register
Enrolling for new courses is quick and easy on the Xamk Pulse platform. Students can browse the course offerings, choose the course that suits them best and enrol with just a few clicks. Payment is handled conveniently through various payment methods, such as online banking, which makes the whole process hassle-free and student-oriented.
