Mobile app pre-launch and visual prototype

The preliminary study project resulted in an architectural plan and a visual prototype of the mobile application.

Ikioma mobile app for Ikioma?

Ikioma Medical Centre in Mikkeli wanted to use Metatavu to explore the possibility of its own mobile app.
The broader objective of the preliminary study was to find out what kind of mobile application would serve the identified needs of Ikioma’s customers now and in the future.
Ikioma aims to expand the use of e-services and improve their discoverability, accessibility and usability.

The future mobile app will bring together Ikioma’s e-services and other key information in one place, reducing multiple data entry and enabling a better and smoother service.
Key functionalities include electronic appointment booking, personal data maintenance, video reception, prescription review and renewal, and laboratory and medical reports.

The app is designed to be GDPR-compliant and based on strong authentication.
In addition, the mobile app does not store sensitive data on the customer’s mobile device, but acts as a simple interface to the data from the backend system.

What was done?

Architecture

The architecture plan described the architectural principles of the future solution, the interrelationships and implementation of services, the implementation of security and privacy, and the main principles and technical solutions for the implementation of interfaces, back-end services and data repositories.

Visual prototype

A prototype of the user interface was created using the prototyping tool Figma, which gave the customer an idea of what the user interface and user experience of the mobile app could be like.

Documentation and agreement on follow-up

At the end of the pre-screening process, the client was provided with extensive documentation of the results.
It covers the proposed design, the architectural plan, the implementation plan, the preliminary workload estimates and the risk analysis.
At the end of the preliminary study, the client will have the opportunity to tender the actual implementation project.
