Accessible and user-friendly websites

Metatavu carried out a comprehensive website redesign for the Mikkeli Regional Library and the Kirjastopolku website, which met modern accessibility requirements and modernized the sites’ technology. Both sites were integrated into the city’s website, improving the discoverability and usability of the services. The new, user-friendly, and accessible website, built on the WordPress platform, was quickly launched, providing an efficient and clear service experience for library customers.

Starting Point

The aim of the project was to redesign the Mikkeli Regional Library website and the Kirjastopolku website to meet accessibility requirements and modern technical demands. The sites were merged and integrated with the city’s website, which improved the discoverability and usability of the services.

Actions

Metatavu worked in close cooperation with the City of Mikkeli, designing and implementing the website on the WordPress platform. During the project, special attention was paid to accessibility and user-friendliness, and the entire process was completed within a rapid schedule.

Outcome

The result is a fresh and accessible website that integrates the content of Mikkeli Regional Library and Kirjastopolku with the city’s website. The new site was successfully launched in April 2024 and now serves library customers comprehensively.
